China Southern Opens the Guangzhou-Zhengzhou-Luxembourg Passenger Route

      December 21, 2023 - On December 21, the Guangzhou-Zhengzhou-Luxembourg passenger route was officially opened by China Southern. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative and the construction of the Zhengzhou-Luxembourg Air Silk Road. Previously, there were only cargo routes between the two cities. The Guangzhou-Zhengzhou-Luxembourg air route launched this time is not only the first direct route for passengers between China and Luxembourg, but also the second intercontinental route run by China Southern in Zhengzhou following the Zhengzhou-London route. This route further connects the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Henan, a province with strong economic and agricultural strength, a large population, and powerful emerging industry in the Central Plains, and the countries along the Belt and Road. It serves as an important air channel facilitating trade and cultural exchanges between China and Luxembourg, and will play a positive role in promoting regional economic development.

      One round trip will be operated by a A350-900 aircraft per week for this new route. Outbound flights will depart from Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport at 09:25 (Beijing Time) on Thursdays, stop over at Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport for three hours, then depart at 14:50(Beijing Time), and arrive in Luxembourg at 19:00 (local time). Return flights will depart from Luxembourg Airport at 15:00 (local time) on Fridays, arrive at Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport at 08:10 (Beijing Time) on Saturdays for a 1.5-hour layover, and reach Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport at 12:15 on the same day. Known for its stunning "sunglasses" cockpit windshields, the A350 aircraft can provide more private space for passengers with spacious seats and a "2-4-2" seating configuration.

     To ensure a smooth journey for the inaugural passengers departing from Guangzhou, China Southern has established a dedicated support team, set up boarding guidance signs and opened three special check-in counters. It has also assigned staff to assist tour groups in document verification, information submission, and baggage check-in.

     For passengers who depart from major cities in China and transfer in Guangzhou or Zhengzhou, China Southern offers "TATCI" service, which allows these passengers to obtain a boarding pass straight to Luxembourg at their origin airports and have the checked baggage directly transported to the destination. Additionally, China Southern provides a free one-night stay(including a free breakfast) and transportation between the hotel and the terminal for passengers who transfer in Guangzhou with a connecting ticket and meet corresponding requirements. Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport also offers complimentary accommodation for passengers who fly with a layover there within 48 hours.
