Flight Preparation Center of China Southern at Baiyun Airport Officially Launched
August 8,2024-On August 8, China Southern’s Flight Preparation Center at Baiyun International Airport was officially opened. As the first of its kind among Chinese airlines to be located inside a terminal building, it serves as a model for collaborative hub construction between an airport and a base airline.
Representatives from Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) Central and Southern Regional Administration, CAAC Central and Southern Air Traffic Management Bureau, CAAC’s Guangdong Safety Administration, Guangdong Airport Authority, Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport Co., Ltd., and China Southern Air Holding Co., Ltd. attended the inauguration ceremony to jointly celebrate the official launch of the flight preparation center.
Ma Xulun, Chairman of China Southern Air Holding Co., Ltd., highlighted during his speech at the opening ceremony that the establishment of the flight preparation center, the first of its kind within a terminal, represents a significant step forward for China Southern in its commitment to reform and innovation, enhancing core competitiveness and solidifying safety foundation. At the new center, flight crews will be able to finish all necessary procedures, including sign-in, pre-flight preparation, security check, and boarding within the terminal building, which will streamline their entire work process and reduce their workload, thus effectively improving operational efficiency, and providing earlier safety guarantee. In this way, the "modernized, shared, open, and convenient" operational support will be elevated to a new level and the "absolute safety of civil aviation and people's lives" can be better guaranteed.
The flight preparation center is located on the second floor of Terminal 2 at Baiyun International Airport, spanning over 960 square meters. Once operational, the center can accommodate over 120 pilots simultaneously for sign-in, dispatch briefing, flight preparation and other duties. On-duty crew members will be able to walk to the gate through a dedicated security check channel directly after completing their sign-in within Terminal 2. This streamlined process not only reduces wasted time and ensures ample time for flight preparation, but also significantly enhances both efficiency and experience for flight crews on duty. This center represents a significant achievement and a powerful testament to innovation and progress in the information era.
Zhou He, a captain and flight instructor from China Southern, is one of the first users at the flight preparation center. "This is a major change for our pilots. The flight preparation center is both fully functional and modern, making our work easier and saving us more time for flight preparations," he remarked.
Taking this opportunity, China Southern will deepen its collaboration with Baiyun International Airport, increase interaction and share achievements, so as to promote the high-quality development of the civil aviation ecosystem in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area with all strength.
