China Southern Debuts at the 15th Airshow China: Tech Innovation Leads to Joyful Flying Experiences
November 12-2024,The 15th China International Aviation & Aerospace Exhibition (Airshow China) commenced on November 12 at Guangdong Zhuhai International Airshow Center. As the event’s global strategic partner and only airline partner for international flight tickets, China Southern Airlines showcased its technological innovation in multiple dimensions, delivering the concept of joyful flying experience to its global audience.
During the airshow, China Southern set up a cabin-shaped pavilion to portray its brand image and strength, centering on the theme of “Enabling More People to Enjoy Better Flights” and the “Sunshine China Southern” culture in the new era. The pavilion highlighted 5 key elements of flying, which are safety, convenience, efficiency, comfortable experience, and greenness. The airline also demonstrated its R&D capabilities and overall brand strength through the use of audio-visual devices and AR display in the exhibition area.
It is noteworthy that the airline’s independently developed Flight and Navigation Procedures Trainer (FNPT) for A320NEO was also displayed during the airshow. As China’s first procedure trainer modeled on the European Union Aviation Safety Agency’s FNPT standards, it stands out in the market with innovative features. For instance, its semi-enclosed or open cockpit with control panel, flight instruments, and operational devices presents a physical simulation to the real aircraft cockpit, thereby making the operating environment more realistic. It not only fulfills standard flight training requirements, but also addresses the needs for training civil aviation pilots in China under the Pilot Professionalism Lifecycle Management System (PLM), and marks a pioneering effort by domestic flight simulation training equipment manufacturers to develop FNPT.
Also in the airshow, a China Southern aviation maintenance pavilion was set up jointly by China Southern Technic, GAMECO, Zhuhai MTU, and SYNOR-A, fully demonstrating their service philosophy of “leveraging technology to empower new quality productive forces in maintenance and operations that are safer, more reliable, and economical”. In the core area of the pavilion, six pioneering technological innovation projects, led by the Horus system, made their debut. These projects were presented through various mediums including static displays, live demonstrations, and immersive experiences using AR, MR and VR equipment. Also on display were the cultural and creative products made of scrapped aviation materials, highlighting the airline’s commitment to green development. On the left side of the exhibition area, GAMECO presented its independently developed lightweight dining cart, showing advanced R&D and manufacturing prowess. On the right side, three exhibits showcasing the history and capabilities of MTU Zhuhai caught the attention of visitors. Notably, the V2500 engine was the first model received by the repair facility when it began operation.
In order to effectively meet travel demands and ensure smooth travelling experience during the airshow, China Southern deployed Airbus A330 wide-body aircraft on the Zhuhai-Beijing Daxing route from Nov. 8 to 11 and Nov. 18 to 19, offering 30 business class and 229 economy class seats on each flight. From Nov. 11 to 16, China Southern General Aviation Company collaborated with Zhuhai Low-Altitude Industry Investment & Operation Co., Ltd., to launch the Greater Bay Area Express Campaign, introducing new low-altitude routes from Hong Kong, Guangzhou, and Yangjiang to Zhuhai for novel exhibition-viewing experience. The low-altitude flight takes only 25 minutes from Guangzhou to Zhuhai, 50 minutes from Yangjiang to Zhuhai, and approximately 60 minutes from Hong Kong to Zhuhai via Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport.
In addition, three live streams were performed on Nov. 12, 15, and 16 respectively through WeChat mini-program to bring the airshow tour online. China Southern also introduced its unique in-flight services, named Memories of the Kapok Season and inspired by the 24 solar terms. The airline’s flight attendants delivered a uniform fashion show wearing different uniforms from past to present, alongside a Hanfu show to vividly portray the beauty of traditional Chinese culture and the remarkable progress of China’s civil aviation over the past 75 years.
As a proponent of the “Sunshine China Southern” culture, China Southern embraces its corporate mission of “Enabling More People to Enjoy Better Flights” and dedicates itself to the core values of “Safety First and Customer Orientation”. The airline grows under a strong commitment to the spirits of "Diligence, Pragmatism, Inclusiveness, and Innovation" and continues to pursue high-quality development as it steadily progresses toward becoming a world-class enterprise.
